The Bénés plateau from Tête Noire - hiking trail

360° views of the Mont-Blanc, Fiz and Aravis ranges. In summer, you'll find herds of cattle around the alpine chalets of Les Bénés.

Explore the Bénés Plateau, with breathtaking views of the Aravis and the Mont Blanc range! This hiking trail offers a variety of routes rated orange (fairly difficult) and red (difficult), delighting hikers seeking challenges and spectacular panoramic views.

Starting from the Peray parking lot, the route begins with a walk through the forest. The magic begins as the trail leads you toward the plateau, an open space where the view expands to take in the surrounding mountains.

In summer, this is where pastoral life comes to life, with cows enjoying the view and the fresh grass.

Please note: this hike is accessible starting in late spring, as it depends on snow conditions along the route.

Work on the Chemin des Têtes

Maintenance work will begin on the Chemin des Têtes on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and is expected to last about ten days. The goal is to restore and secure this trail.

Due to the nature of the work, which involves crushing and grinding rocks, please note the following:

No detour is possible: As this is a mountain road, no alternative route can be established. Traffic will therefore be severely disrupted and may be blocked at times.
Safety and extreme caution: The utmost caution is required in the vicinity of the construction site. For your safety, it is imperative that you keep your distance from the crushing equipment and wait for instructions from the contractor before proceeding.
Please avoid this route. To reach the Plateau des Bénés, you can take the Chemin des Sions/Bœufs (to the left of the Peray parking lot), which will lead you toward the plateau.

We are aware of the inconvenience this may cause, but this work is essential to ensure the long-term viability of our trails and the safety of everyone.

1/ Park in the Peray parking lot or the Mouilles parking lot
2/ Head for Tête Noire, on the right along the main path: the climb is steady but fast,
3/ Then head for "Mouilles de Brey".
Variant : Here you can make a detour to the Tête Noire cross, which offers an exceptional view.
4/ Then head for the Bénés chalets.
5/ Return by the same or a different path, below the Chalets des Bénés,
6/ Return via the Balcon des Sions, Chemin des Bœufs.
Option: A longer loop can be made as far as the tête du Planet, or the Cabane du Petit Pâtre.
