A one-day hike to explore the Combe des Fours, for experienced hikers, starting from the Cochenet-Le Pont de la Flée parking lot.

Discover the La Combe des Fours hike starting from the Cochenet parking lot. This challenging but rewarding trail will delight experienced hikers seeking breathtaking scenery; plan on spending a full day on this hike.

After crossing the Flée Bridge, the trail winds its way up gradually, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.

Once you reach La Combe des Fours, the trail leading to the Col de Portette will—with a little luck—allow you to spot the majestic bearded vultures.

Difficult sections

Warning: Starting at the Split Rock, this loop is quite dizzying. Please be careful.

Amenities

Guided steps

1/ Park at the Cochenet parking lot (or at La Plagne d’en Haut, 1,024 m)
2/ Head toward the Pont de la Flée (1,060 m) -
3/ At the Pont de la Flée, continue up the steep climb to reach the Pierre Fendue.
4/ Continue along the trail to the right toward Mayère, and cross the bridge over the Torrent des Fours.
5/ Then leave the Mayère trail and take the path on the left toward Les Fours.
6/ Once you reach the Combe des Fours, cross the Torrent des Fours and continue up the more or less steep slope to the Gouille des Fours.
7/ Continue along the valley until, after a short climb, you reach the Col de Portette.
8/ Begin the return trip on the trail below the Col de Portette.
9/ After the steep switchbacks, join the 4x4 trail and follow it to the Chalets de Cœur.
10/ Then head to the Pierre Fendue, the Flée Bridge, and finally the Cochenet parking lot.
