Description

This itinerary allows cyclists to discover the traditional villages of the Pays du Mont Blanc region, with their rich heritage. The route offers magnificent views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains (Fiz, Aravis).
Black loop N°43 in the field - "Circuit du Pays du Mont-Blanc". Technical analysis: Route: The Conseil Départemental de Haute-Savoie offers some forty signposted road itineraries to discover the department's landscapes by bike. These routes are offered in the form to diversify the landscape. Round-trip itineraries are avoided, as they pose problems for understanding the continuity of the route and reading the signs. This loop starts in Sallanches, at Pré Curral (cycle path along the Biale stream). Technical summary: Town of departure / TER: Sallanches Length: 75 KM Total ascent: 1459 m Difficulty: black Direction: counter-clockwise Landmarks and connections: towards Cordon, then over Combloux town centre Combloux town center, then through Megève town center to the to Saint-Gervais, and finally around Lac des Ilettes back to Sallanches on the Voie Verte along the Arve. This cycle-touring loop offers magnificent scenery all along the way, with many panoramic views and a passage along the Lac des Ilettes at the end of the stage. The main climbs are : - From downtown Sallanches to Médon (5.5% over 8km) - From downtown Combloux to the entrance to Megève (4.4% over 5km) - From the bottom of the route des Ponthieux on the D43 (5.1% over 4km) In view of its length, altitude difference and road traffic, this itinerary should be reserved for a sporty, experienced public. The route is classified according to the official FFCT* and FVT* coding grid, which means that it is suitable for experienced and technical sports riders. Scoring and information to be taken into account, if the route is promoted for VAE (Vélos à Assistance Electrique). * FFCT (Fédération Française de Cyclotourisme) * FVT (France Vélo Tourisme) Summary This proposed cycle-touring loop, which has been submitted to the Conseil Départemental, can be added to the range of cycle-touring loops of interest to the département. This itinerary may be open to a wider public thanks to the use of VAE (Vélos à Assistance Electrique - electrically-assisted bicycles), but it should be remembered that cyclists will need to know how to handle the various difficulties encountered (sections with traffic, steep descents). The itinerary is therefore reserved for seasoned cyclists with good cycling experience who know how to assess the difficulties involved. Boucles cyclo-touristiques départementales: as part of its policy to develop cycling (utility and leisure - tourism), in 2002 the département set up signposted cyclo-tourism and cyclo-sportive routes. There are 48 of these routes, totalling just over 3,000 km in length. Designed for experienced and sporty cyclists, these routes are signposted on existing roads, without the need for special facilities. Note: A similar offer has been developed in Savoie, providing 115 routes in Savoie Mont Blanc. This project for new loops in the Pays du Mont Blanc area would add to the department's offer.
