Les chalets de l'Avenaz - snowshoe trail

A beautiful walk through the heart of the Jorasse forest, traditionally covered in snow, to reach the highest point of Avenaz and its chalets. Nice mountain views from the summit!

Following the forest road to the top and back, this sporty itinerary takes you first into the forest, then to a lovely, unobstructed view of the Mont-Blanc range and the Aiguilles de Warens at the summit.

1/ Start from the Cornillon / Lezaive d'en haut parking lot (these are the same parking lots), for a 3h05 hike.
2/ Take the forest road to Les Plaines.
3/Arrived at Les Plaines, take the Avenaz path: follow the signs indicating the Avenaz loop.
4/There are two possibilities;
Number 1: either head back down towards the forest road, then to the starting parking lot.
Number 2: either continue along the Chemin de l'Avenaz, to reach the mountain pasture or the Chalets de l'Avenaz. Be careful, if you go this way, the path is NOT MARKED. The way back is the same as when you went.
5/ To go back down, follow the signs for the Avenaz loop, you'll come to some chalets, and then the path will take you to the forest road.
6/ Follow the forest road back to the start parking lot.
