From glaciers to tourism... From the first settlers to the present day, via Roman milestones, Cordon castle, listed Baroque church, traditional housing, school, crosses,...
The community of Cordon has always been very dynamic, as witnessed by the numerous lawsuits with neighboring alpacists, which obliged the Romans to demarcate territories with stones marked FINES. This is where the story begins... Lords living a little far away, their daily lives made difficult by a "little ice age". The Cordonants built a habitat adapted to the long months of winter under the snow and, as soon as possible, a church built in the center of the village, following the fashion of the day: Alpine Baroque.
The story of Savoie's very first mountain school sheds light on immigration...
On a stroll through the village center, the whole history of the village unfolds. 2 hrs maximum. Tours adapted for juniors.
