Description

The listed Baroque church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption Its history, construction and Baroque decor: Construction began in 1781. It was listed by the Monuments Historiques in 2004.
This late 18th-century church, its location in the center of the village, its dimensions, its decoration and the frescoes decided by the Cordonants, offer an extraordinary unity of color. Since the restoration of its decorations in 2011, the church has returned to its original appearance. Baroque elements from the earlier château chapel have naturally found their place here. The monumental altarpiece, all green and gold, catches the eye as soon as you enter. The dome at the transept crossing, invisible from the outside because it is lowered, rests on 4 pendentives which, in architecture, make it possible to move from a square to a circular plan. The trompe-l'œil decoration accentuates the depth of the church. Everything - altarpiece, high altar, frescoes, dome, statuary - perfectly illustrates the religious message of the period.
